Action Needed re the 10 The Financial CHOICE Act

from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The Society is urging us to contact
our Congressperson in the House of Representatives requesting that they vote
against The Financial CHOICE Act. It contains this destructive sentence
regarding payday lending which hits the working poor exceptionally hard:
US Consumer Financial
Protection Bureau (CFPB): “NO AUTHORITY TO REGULATE SMALL-DOLLAR CREDIT —The
Agency may not exercise any rulemaking, enforcement, or other authority with
respect to payday loans, vehicle title loans, or other similar loans.” (Sec.
733)
